A small bathroom isn’t exactly something to get excited about.
In fact, when a property has a small bathroom, it can put a lot of buyers off. However, just because a bathroom is small, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have potential.
If you are considering buying a property that has a small bathroom, but are a little put off by the size, don’t be. A small bathroom has so much potential, it just takes a little creative thinking to see it, that’s all.
While there is nothing wrong with a small bathroom, it’s important that you know how to design it effectively so that it is a space you love. You might not believe it, but a small bathroom can be just as stylish and functional as the rest of your home.
To help you transform your bathroom and make it look larger, here are a few helpful ideas:
Aim to use the same tone throughout the room
According to interior designers, the key to design success is using the same tone throughout the room. Don’t opt for dark walls and light tiles, or vice versa, because this will separate the space and make it appear smaller.
However, while keeping the tones of the room the same are important, if you want to add contrast, you can do so with the odd feature or two. Something like a light coloured cabinet or light fixture is the ideal way to contrast to the space.
Paint the ceiling
Don’t leave your ceiling white while all your other walls are painted in a different colour. Make sure also to have the ceiling painted so that the room is all one colour – believe it or not, this create the appearance of more space.
Some people choose to paint their ceiling one shade lighter than the rest of the room; this tends to work well. Especially, when the ceiling is already darker than the rest of the room.
Add mirrors
One of the best ways to give a room the appearance of extra space is by adding a large mirror to it. By using a mirror to reflect the room, the space instantly looks much larger. Of course, if there is a window in the room, placing a mirror in a position where it reflects that will give the illusion of even more space.
Tile carefully
Don’t stop tiling just below the ceiling or just outside the shower, if you are going to tile a wall, make sure to do the whole wall. By ensure that each wall blends seamlessly into the other, such as with tiling, you will make the space look less cluttered.
Plus, by blending the walls together the space remains whole and isn’t chopped in half by different colours or styles. The more blended a space looks, the larger it will appear.
Follow these simple tips and you will see that there are plenty of ways you can transform a small bathroom into a space you love.
