This month, The Soil Association and the Organic Trade Board have joined forces to ask you to Organic Your September.
The two organisations have chosen September to shine a spotlight on their mission: they’re asking us to go organic and pledge to make small swaps throughout the month. Perhaps switching your usual face cream for an organic alternative, or shopping for organic tomatoes instead of the regular type.
In addition to our kitchen cupboards and beauty bags, we can go organic in the home too! If you’re shopping for new furniture and furnishings this month, check if there’s an organic alternative available first! Here are some of our favourite favourites below!
Why go organic? Organic farming is better for the planet, as it works with nature and not against it. It helps to combat climate change, supports wildlife and is better for animal welfare. Learn more on The Soil Association’s website.
Due a new duvet?
If you’re due a new duvet, you won’t go far wrong with this award-winning option by Panda. It is antibacterial, hypoallergenic, easy-to-clean, thermoregulating, durable and guaranteed to last for 5 years! Plus, it is 100% vegan and made from soft and cosy sustainable organic bamboo.
It’s available in four different sizes, price starts at £99.95. Shop at zerozen.co.uk.
Beautify your bed with organic linen too:
Purchased the Panda duvet above? You’ll probably need a new cover for it. Look no further! We recommend this lovely set from The Fine Cotton Company. It is made from a 200 thread count organic cotton percale fabric and features pink stars embroidered onto a white background (other colour options are available too). Not a fan of the star print? No bother, there are plenty of other designs available on their website—including crisp plain white, striped linen and polka dot spots.
Available in a range of sizes, from cot bed to king size. Prices start at £17. Visit thefinecottoncompany.com.
What about a new rug?
This beautiful double-sided rug is extremely hardwearing, great for any busy thoroughfare in your home. The company sell a range of colour options but we’ve fallen for this soft pastel style—it contains a range of blues, greens and pinks interwoven with the natural tones. It’s made from 100% organic jute.
There are five different size options available. Prices begin at £45. Shop at braided-rug.co.uk.
Add organic to your bathroom too:
Swap to organic cotton towels in the bathroom with this two-piece set from made.com. They’re super soft and absorbent—what more could you need? We love this indigo blue hue, but they’re available in paprika orange too, if that fits better with your bathroom colour scheme. Coordinating bath towels and hand towels are also available.
The 150cm bath sheet is currently on sale for £39. Was £45. Shop at made.com.
Organic oven gloves are a go:
Go organic in your kitchen—and we don’t just mean in the fridge! Choose organic cotton options for your soft furnishings and accessories. We were instantly attracted to these oven gloves by Hannah Turner. You might say we were drawn to them like a moth to a flame!
A matching apron and tea towel are also available. The oven gloves cost £25.00. Browse hannahturner.co.uk for the full range.
